throwing1Ceramic artist Dyann Myers, lives and works in the beautiful St. Croix River Valley north of Stillwater, Minnesota.  In a community of artists, Dyann’s work stands out as unique and inspiring. While her designs are richly artistic, they are also inviting to use.  Her wheel-thrown porcelain pottery features texturing created by various techniques, including carving and raised relief. Her glazes are formulated with the intent of enhancing the textures to produce a surface which is appealing to the touch and entices interaction. Drawing on the influence of her background in classical music (as a professional freelance oboist and teacher,) Dyann incorporates beautiful lines and lyrical forms to create work that resonates with the user.

Although her work is created to be fundamentally functional, it is the rich texture and color of these pieces that turn ordinary habits into meditative rituals: the morning cup of coffee, a soothing cup of tea after work, a bowl of hot soup on a cold day – all become more satisfying experiences when one interacts with the sensual tactile surfaces of these pieces. This interaction of the necessary and the delightful inspire joy into our sometimes mundane routines.
